1. Introduction

Welcome to Amino ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Amino iOS application.

Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Fitness & Health Data — workout logs, sets, reps, weights, session duration, and fitness test results you enter in the app. If you grant permission, Apple Health metrics such as heart rate, VO₂ Max, step count, calories burned, and workout history.
  • Profile Information — fitness goals, experience level, bodyweight, preferred language, and equipment list you provide during onboarding or in settings.
  • Usage Data — anonymous analytics about how you interact with the app (e.g., screens visited, features used), used to improve the product.
  • Device & Technical Data — Firebase Anonymous Auth identifier (a random UUID, not linked to your identity), device token for push notifications (FCM), and crash/diagnostic reports.
  • AI Interaction Logs — prompts sent to our AI backend and responses received, used to generate and improve your personalized workouts and coaching insights.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Generate and personalize AI-driven workout programs tailored to your profile.
  • Deliver post-workout coaching insights via push notification.
  • Analyze your health trends to adapt your training plan over time.
  • Maintain and improve the quality, reliability, and features of Amino.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. HealthKit Data

Amino integrates with Apple HealthKit to read fitness and health metrics. HealthKit data is used solely to provide and improve features within the app. We will never:

  • Sell HealthKit data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties.
  • Use HealthKit data for advertising or user profiling for advertising purposes.
  • Share HealthKit data with third parties except as strictly necessary to operate the service (e.g., sending relevant context to the AI backend to generate your plan).

Access to HealthKit requires your explicit permission. You can revoke this permission at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Amino.

5. Third-Party Services

Amino uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

  • Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging) — firebase.google.com/support/privacy
  • Google Gemini AI — your workout-related data is processed by the Gemini API to generate personalized recommendations.
  • RevenueCat — subscription management and in-app purchase validation. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
  • Apple HealthKit — governed by Apple's HealthKit framework terms and your device privacy settings.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information to outside parties beyond what is necessary to operate the app and listed above.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore under your anonymous Firebase user ID. You may delete all your data at any time directly from within the app: go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account & Data. This action is irreversible and permanently removes your profile, workouts, sessions, and AI insights from our systems.

7. Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information — including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase Security Rules restricting data access to authenticated owners only, and server-side secret management for API keys. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

Amino is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
